An interesting progression

On my last trip to the Twin Cities, I got to take some photos in St Paul along the river.  There is an interesting patch where the hillside has apparently had to be reinforced over many many years.

There are similar stretches of walls in the Philly area as well.

Most modelers shy away from evolutionary additions and repairs . One modeler a few months ago did a combination bridge that had a plate girder , through truss , as well as a wooden trestle bridging a span over road and tracks . There may have been other types as well in that span . I thought it looked fantastic and have seen such thinks in photos . It gives you pause for thought on how it evolved .

One of the things that most modellers attempt to achieve is a sort symmetry in a scene. These pictures and Ritchie's post on the bridge show that as time marches on scenery changes and man's attemopt to deal with mother nature sometimes makes things appear ugly or out of place, anmd modelling those changes makes the scenery all the more real in appearance.

Those are from April of this year.


One thing I never really noticed before is the different fencing to go along with the wall changes.
