I spent some quality time with the scanner today, and rummaged through a few more bags of old prints I've accumulated over the years.
Not much that's worth publishing, (what I wouldn't give to go back in time with my digital camera!) but lots of subject matter you may find interesting...  Here's a morsel for you to nibble on...

Lee, in terms of the gallery...  Those PC/NYC baggage cars sat there for many, many years being used to store baggage at Lancaster Station.  I remember seeing them while waiting for the eastbound Amtrash Broadway to take us to New York.

I last saw them this June parked just beyond the Strasburg RR Route 741 crossing in a new coat of primer.  I'm a member of the Friends of the Museum there and have not heard whether they're now Museum property or if SRR is restoring them for someone else.

I also forgot I bagged that Lehigh Valley paint out in Altoona...  What a catch!  Too bad the little 126 instamatic wasn't quite up to the task... That and my mom always had my prints done on that silk finish paper...  urgh!

Oh yeah, that silk finish paper! I remember having my prints done that way back then because
that seemed to be the "with it" way to do it at the time, for the glossy seemed too "old timey."  :

Ah, what little did I know. Almost everything I posted a few months back on here were of that
style, & since I don't have a scanner, I tried doing digital pics of the prints with a little editing-
not good, but not too bad considering. The way I look at it, it was TIME PRESERVED. I only wish
now I had a few more $$ for film back then, & more transportation other than my 10 speed. I
think of all those Chessie units going thru town, up at Sterling, &...oops sorry Lee-I forgot the
"C" word is a no-no with you.  ;D

I have no idea.  I took that picture 26 years ago with the intention of showing it to someone to ask...  But now they're all dead... :'(
(not really, I just don't know... perhaps one of the blue bloods around here can answer that...)

I suppose that even though they're pretty murky, there's some meat and potatoes there...  Feel free, lift all you want.  I may be able to do some higher res scans of some of them, if you think that would help.  (I found that setting about halfway through the pile of pictures...DOH!)

I don't think high-res scans of them could hurt anything, so feel free to do whichever ones you want and e-mail them to me at Sean121982@yahoo.com if you don't want to post them to Picasa. Even though they're not the best pictures ever posted, they're still cool from a historical standpoint, and help us create a more comprehensive photographic record.

Ok, I am late to this party! What else is new?

The other week, as Ike was possibly going to clobber us here in Florida, I was packing up everything important I wanted to take along with me, assuming our house would be fairly destroyed if a Cat 3 storm came over it. Family photos were first, of course.

Then I came to my train photos. Of all the 1,000+ photos I've shot since my return to the hobby in 1994 nothing was as important to me than the crappy photos I took in 1976 with my 1950 Kodak box camera and 110 camera. Lousy quality but so much history. So many good memories--light bleeding in the photos, fingers, a bit blurry, and all. Knowing we might lose everything really puts it into perspective.

BTW the photos at the bottom of my list to save? The 1,000 CR slides a fellow gave me several years ago. Nearly all are copyrighted dupes. If something had to stay behind, it was going to be them. Can't post them online anyway!  :-\

As you know, Ike missed us but slammed Texas. I am so sick of hurricanes this year. My heart goes out to TX.
