Weathering with acrylics

THis is my first attempt at weathering with acrylics. It is not done yet but wanted some feedback. So how bad is it?

 The sides look great, but the ends and lower dumps need to be worked on. If you do them as good as the sides turned out you'll have a truly great piece of rolling  to be proud of.

Thanks for the comments guys. I will be going back to hobby lobby tonight or tomorrow to pick up some more colors. everything was 25% off. All I picked up yesterday was Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber. What other colors will I need besides black?
  I will be trying to get some rust streaks down the sides of the car also. I will post more pics as I go.

 As you get closer to the look you want you might try some chalk or Bragdon's weather powders. Chalk will need a clear coat to hold it in place were Bragdon's does not . In fact the more you rub it in the better it sticks. You might find it at Hobby Lobby if not can get direct from Bragdon's ( see his add in MRC)  or I also carry them.

I always used titanium white to blend with the sienna and umber to get various shades of rust. Also you might try raw sienna and umber if they have it in stock.

The rust on the horizontal edges near the tops of the sides looks really good to me.   Can you please share some details on your techniques?

Bragdon Enterprise weathering powders FTW! That stuff is great for foundations, blending, highlighting etc...

Light swabs of alcohol can tone the rust down in places to mitigate the overall effect or add an element of randomness. The raw effect is nice looking.
