Branchline Trains laser kits.

OK I have a few of their house kits and I know all about the goofy brick and shingle sheets they use, but they wood parts all seem fine.  With that I bought #984 Crosby's Coal and planned to tar paper the roof. I get the kit and all walls are laser cut from wood that looks like corrugated steel sheet, not the board siding that both the built up photos at their site and the prototype photos show. The other kits I have from them have parts made from the correct siding.

I sent them an E-mail, but guessing I will need to re-side the whole structure. If so I'd be better off buy decals and a set of plans from them

If its a saw tooth type of wood , decaling will be harder . Maybe somebody just feed the wrong siding in the machine on Friday after lunch . Could happen . The planks run vertically on the track structure , saw tooth there would be dumb .

We have used Northeastern wood for years, but recently tried another vendor for a few items. Their HO clapboard is fine, but their N scale scribed siding was inconsistent, some of it sounding much like you describe. We quickly went back to Northeastern!

They say new parts are in the mail. Maybe they could hire people with eyes?

But , the fix is in the mail , and they did admit a fault that has been rectified coupled with a story of events . Given the disappointment , this is a best scenario outcome . Could be much worse IMO .

Guess at first it seemed I was just in a bad mood and jumping the gun. Then even with my reply I still don't believe till I see... Today I saw

The bottom piece is the new replacement, top is the original. They are pretty much exactly the same.

I offered to send them photos showing what was wrong and was told there is no need since they knew just what I was talking about.

Oh well, complete scratch build here I come  :
