I managed to see that they are listed as River series.
Thanks, Bob. At least they may have gotten the names right. ;D

I just received the NYC cars with the decals included. It is kind of a mixed bag.
On the negative side, the decals are very thick, and the lettering was done in white instead of the correct aluminum. Oh well, at least it matches the (also incorrect) white lettering and striping printed on the car. ::)
On the plus side, the car names are correct for NYC plan 4129 10-6 smooth-side sleepers: (Cass River, Croton River, Current River, Mystic River, Neponset River, and Portage River). Only trouble is the Walthers car is a plan 4140. NYC never had plan 4140 10-6s - they had plan 4129 10-6s with a different window arrangement. Still, I am happy to have these as stand-ins - the average person would not notice the difference. Guess I will live with the white lettering as the Microscale NYC passenger car decals do not include car names.

I'm tempted to get an undec and paint it for N&W ...

but maybe they'll do N&W in the 2nd run, as N&W actually had this exact car.

I finished decaling 3 cars today.  Have a couple more to go.  I will wind up with 2 extra decal sheets.  If anyone needs some please PM me.

I need some advice.  I bought one of the Walthers 10-6 Passenger Cars as soon as it came out, so I was shorted the decals.  A few weeks ago, I emailed the retailer where I purchased the car, but I never received a response. I realize this is not the fault of the retailer, so am I supposed to go directly to Walthers or should I bother the retailer again?  What did you all do?

Thanks,
Dave

My understanding is that Walthers is sending decals to the dealers that got the first cars [without the decals included]. There is a lot that can go wrong with that scenario. I would keep trying to verify with your dealer.
In my case, my dealer was kind enough to hold the cars until the decals arrived. When the decals arrived he put them inside with the cars and then shipped them to me. [Thanks, Scott and Steve at N Scale Supply].

On Thursday I used Micro Scale decals to do my two Union Pacific sleepers. UP never had smooth side 10-6 sleepers only Budd's with painted sides & roof so I elected to use Western series names used on       14-4 cars (fourteen roomettes four bedrooms) used on the City Of St. Louis,Wabash also rostered two cars if I recall which later became N&W. Extra work was involved ,UP sleepers when delivered had "Pullman" in large letters centered on letter boards with "Union Pacific" in small letters near the ends. I didn't want to attempt to remove the road name from the cars so I chose to letter them as some, but not all UP cars were lettered after they took over the staffing of the cars from Pullmen in the late 1960's. UP was then applyed to the letter boards in large letters and Pullman in small letters near the ends to idntify car type, although most cars were simply lettered UP with no Pullman. Luckely the sheets for Business Cars and special cars included the small Pullman lettering and sheets for lightweight car names provided the Western Series name for one car the other came off the Business Car sheet. Extra work but worth it. I then placed a huge online order with Micro Scale Industries for decals for other cars, Rock Island for one car, SP for two cars, but no one makes correct Rio Grande decals MS does only the modern ski train, I did however order Pennsylvania since the sheets I used to name and number my Kato smoothside Pennsy cars years ago are pretty much used up. Luckely I have some NP & GN sheets. No I have never recieved the Walthers sheet and a conversation with Pete at BLW was less than positive, he was not sure that he would ever get them so I went with Micro Scale since the UP names on the Wathers sheet are bogus anyway.
