Request for magazine info, RMC PRR X58 from 5/80

The one reply I got off the CR Modeler's Yahoo group suggested the same thing: buy one of Railyard Models X58's in HO, and size it down to N scale.  Is this a viable option?  Are you able to ask the guy at Fine N Scale if he could do anything with the Railyard Model's model?  Thanks.
