Anyone have a basket case MP Pacific?

I have a working theory how to quarter and replace the rear driver with a TT equipped set. I attempted this on my 4-4-0 American and was able to add the TT, quarter the wheels better then from the factory and improve electrical connectivity to the truck in under 15 minutes. I want to try this on the pacific as many have said it is a nightmare to replace, but I have little use for the engine other then to prove a method of repair.

Is anyone willing to be the guinea pig? I'll need the TT driver set and the engine for about a week. This will be photographed for a future article.

I won't lie, there is a small chance I could break something... this is an experiment. But if all goes according to plan, the engine won't even be opened!

There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

I don't have one I want to part with (actually it is pieces right now)  I have recommended to others, like you have, to change the wheels only and leave the axles in place. There are no splines and the wheels slide right off. I have never did it myself though. It just seems a lot easier than messing with all those wipers on the bottom plate.

looking at the 4-6-2 the only problem I see are the brake shoes being in the way. They may bend out of the way while you slip the flange by, but I don't know for sure.
