So this is why the prices on rolling stock where all over the road at hobby shops. Amywhere from 17-25 bucks for the same unit, depending what Kadee charged the hobby shop. I got a guy here who is even selling the promo packs that MTL sent the hobby shops. How do you price that? This is the same bastardo that ask me "is that all" when I paid full PRICE for Kadee Couplers Sunday.

Chuck:

All hobby shops pay the same price for Micro Trains (Kadee) rolling stock. The difference you are seeing in price is dependent on the discount each hobby shop offers. Some give 10-25% off MSRP while others offer no discount at all.

What "Promo Packs" are you talking about? If you are referring  to the  Runner Packs that have four cars in them and come in a red box then those are actual products and not promos. They were announced for release months ago.

We're not "bastardos".

Chuck G: .. Dealers are free to price what they sell at whatever they wish. There are good hobby shops, and there are bad. We as consumers are free to purchase from anyone we wish.

Chuck (Chulvis) happens to (IMHO) be one of the good guys .. His prices are fair, and his shipping is reasonable.  Is he always the cheapest, no, but then again, I haven't had the problems getting my stuff from him. I also know him to be honest and forthright. If he tells you something, you can bet on it being accurate to the best of his knowledge.

I spend a good chunk of my modeling dollars with Chulvis, even though I have MB Kleins just up the road. Why, because I trust him.

Cheers

Chuck G.:  It sounds like you need to find another hobby pusher.  I'll second John's comments about Chulvis.  FRTS is my primary hobby shop.  I have always been treated fairly and received great service.   8)  The "local" shops around here are basically MSRP with limited selection.  Take a look around and listen to what others recommend.  You will find that not all hobby dealers are the same.

I just got a pack from Chuck the other day. Chuck's in CA, I'm in OH, but my local shop would need me to explain what N scale is. And I'd bet that steamer Chuck sent would be over $200 at the local shop. :o

I'll jump on the "Chuck (Chulvis) Wagon" too!  FRTS is one of the best.  I live in MD and more than once I have placed an order late on Friday night and it's been in my mail box by Monday.  It's almost spooky.

I know you are not a bastardo - My guys are here. A city of 780,000 and three SNAFU hobby shops. It was a promotion set of cars in a plastic bag from MTL and he put a price on and put it on his messy rack. My Central California boys know I'm talking about Tom's Trains on Van Ness in Fresno. I miss East Coast hobby shops, cordial, well-stocked and non-bastardo.

BTW I saw your ad in N Scale and you have an order coming from me. Great prices. Sorry I thought you were one of those Baltimore bastardos. Look forward to working with you. I am done the the three local shops here. Did you know Bill Randolph who ran Fresno Model Railroad. He closed a few years ago and is selling his remaining inventory on line?
