This is D&RGW #3604 L-131 class 2-8-8-2 on April 17th 1938 near Redcliff, Colorado.  It is assisting #1803 M-68 class 4-8-4 pulling the 12 car Scenic Limited up grade.

The building looks familiar to me and I think it is near Turcot.  The Monterm (Montreal container
terminal) Yard which was built on the old Turcot grounds was dismantled and torn up 2 years ago.
CN hopes to sell off most of the land for re-development.

that's right. on the ABC news tonight, there was the ceremony at the USS ARIZONA memorial, and there were survivng japanese pilots attending that helped in the bombing raids, and they were talking amongst the american survivors, and tom brokaw had a rather goofy theory. "makes you wonder if 65 years from now, the insurgents in iraq will share stories with the american troops over the current events in iraq".  he had to say that, right?

A few Fridays ago, I turned onto the road approaching my workplace only to find it totally clogged with every conceivable type of emergency response vehicle. Police, fire, EMS, and, unfortunately, Hazmat...when you work as a hazardous waste disposal facility, this is NEVER a good sign.

So I fought my way through th traffic to the place, and the general manager told me to go home for about 4 hours...so I did, to grab my camera bag, as it was a fairly gorgeous fall morning at the time. I took off for the Rockville area, but heard a 14G coming east, so I parked myself east of the Harrisburg fuel pad and waited for him:


Next up was a 68J slab train:


Bringing up the rear of 68J was this relic, which I shot again near CP-Harris:




After the slabs cleared, an intermodal went west:


Next up was a 953 work train, pulled by one of the many venerable GP15-1s being purged from the NS roster next month:


Next up was a train calling themselves the 35 Crew...the sight of a cab-forward SW1500 is always a good sign...


From the consist of this thing, I KNEW it was going down to Steelton, and I've been dying to get some shots around the rail mill, so I gave chase.


Sadly, he started messing around with his switching chores in an unshootable location...and I soon got my phone call that we were allowed back into the facility, so I headed over to work.

Not bad for a few hours' work...but here's the icing on the cake: since I reported to work on-time and was sent home by the management, I ended up getting PAID to go railfanning that day!  ;D
