Sawdust gon w/ vertical end ribs

Hello all!!  This is an HO sawdust gon I just scratchbuilt this week with the vertical end ribs. I have built a few before with the horizontal ribs but this is the first one this way. I am also working on some other versions with different side panels.

Really first class job, but is that not an end dump woodchip car? Those are quite common on the West Coast. Here in the South most mills use rotary dumpers or chip hoppers.

When Hammermill Paper had mills at Lock Haven and Erie, PA, it used to ship wet pulp in such cars between mills. The cars were pulled up to an end ramp, the end door was raised, and the wet pulp unloaded with a front end loader.

Going to add the train air line? That's the only detail I don't see.

Thanks 3rdrail, and it is also an end dump car. They use them quite often around here to for that decorative wood chips and they do the same thing when unloading them raise up the door and use an end loader or a skid steer to unload them. They also use them in the rotary dumpers as well.

I didn't add the air line until the end or I will just end up braking it off :-[

Well here is the finished model. It's painted BN green and the person that is getting it is doing all the rest of the work to it.

I may have to keep in mind that NWSL cutter for when it comes time to attempt to replicate that DSSX ex SCL hopper!

But for now, RAILBOXES are priority!

Well I built three more of these sawdust gons to sell, kinda help support the hobby and get other things that I want.



I also built me a BN gon and decaled it to match the prototype 585229

Sorry about this blurry picture, didn't feel like going back out and taking another.

And one with the gon being pulled by one of my PVR engines
