How about these? https://www.ebay.com/itm/224126511915 I bought one to use to protect my Power Cab when I run it on a battery instead of its wall wart.
Ooh, that's a very good option. I'd love to find an option with the screamer and a remote LED, but that is a VERY solid plan B!
Both of those features could be likely custom-added to pretty much any breaker device which has a short indicator LED by someone with electronics knowledge. Most model clubs have such a person.
Yeah. I could do it too, but I'm a bit nervous when dealing with surface mounted components like the ones on this. I know I could unsolder the existing LED and replace it, but honestly, I just don't want to, lol.
LOL, for six bucks plus shipping, buy a few. Even if you ruin one or two while soldering, you will learn to finally succeed. I wouldn't even unsolder the LED but connect (both external LED and buzzer) to the common (either positive or negative - whatever they use) and the "short indicator" signal which drives the LED. That way both, the original LED and the add-on components would signal the short.
Ya know, Ed... that overload thingy I created can do all this, and it has an aux output for another "indicator" that can be anything that will work on a 5v supply. So you could just hook one of those piezo buzzers to that and Bob's yer uncle.I can't build them for $6, though, LOL. Still, if you are at all interested, shoot me a PM or an email.
