Would have been funny to see them slam on the brakes.  A million years ago the rear tender was cut down to put a winch back there.

Edit: think it was a 0-4-2 and then they put a winch out back and rebuilt it as a 0-4-4. Looking for a photo.

Apparently this is not the locomotive I thought it was. It was used in Florida and the one I posted is from the West Coast. I saw those inside bearings of the rear truck...  :facepalm:

Robyn was ROFL when I played the vid for her.

I'm certain they did that for effect. The oldest functional loco in the fleet vs. the biggest and baddest modern rolling stock. I can just picture the conversation over beers after the crew received the notice they were getting the car. "Gawd. You really think it'll move the car? Let's do it! Damn!"

That was good. Good example of ironic.  A little engine that really could!
It would have been even better if the loco did not pull it in reverse.  That would look more official.

This is the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum.  https://www.hoosiervalley.org/  They are in North Judson, Indiana, and have a nice collection of mostly operating equipment.  They do car storage occasionally and this car was received for that.  They run this steam engine for short excursions, and someone apparently decided to have some fun.  It certainly brought then a lot of attention among the railfan world.

Obviously, there HAS to be a prototype for many of my vintage N scale steamers, which pull more and more smoothly only when they're in reverse!

Raise your hand if you're old enough to remember that phenomenon!
