Yes - I showed a test shot at the PRRT&HS Annual Meeting model room last month; it is mostly working well.  Photoetch, decals, trucks, and most of the shell are complete.  We need to correct the panel arrangement of the roof based on some recently-discovered drawings and that will be in process over the summer.  Getting close now!

Hoped to get an update out a bit sooner but I have recently moved and am still getting things back in order.  Photos soon!

Are you still collecting reservations for these? Is it just the X23 at this point or are the X29b and B60 still on the table?

The 40' steel, classes M-26 & M-27 (1923 ARA; X29-type): 15,665 cars (55.4% of roster in 1950) were unashamed copies of the Pennsylvania X-29. If Steve would make interchangeable details for B&O / PRR, I’m in for 25 cars MIN (possibly double). I will need them for both Delaware layout and the East End when I get to AZ.

The X23 is what is moving forward; still room for some reservations for that project, but no other cars are on the table at this time.

Hi boB, there are several good sources for X29 / ARA cars already - Red Caboose (used market), Fine N Scale resin, and Microtrains.  One of the M-26 subclasses is the direct X29 clone; the others are ARA (different rivet arrangement and truck centers) and as I recall the M-27s are door-and-a-half cars, some also with raised roofs.  The X29b rebuild (to roughly 1937 AAR standards) was the runner up in my poll, not the as-built.

--Bump--

Are there any updates on this?  Would love to see them get into N-Scale - has said multiple times he might - but have not seen anything to date.  Was hoping to swing by at Amherst but was not able to attend.

Thanks,

Yes!  I was holding off until I could post some photos of the new masters, but I do have news.  We got the roof design corrected and just recently completed a reprint of the master.  I need to review it and clean it up a bit, and then it goes to F&C for sample casting.

Just to be clear, this is a kit commission from F&C, not part of their regular schedule, so the initial run of sales will be through me and not F&C.  Once those are gone, though, Steve Funaro will have the ability to offer them on his website, sell at shows, etc., for as many castings as he cares to make.
