3D resin printed containers

Hi to all   I picked up files from Stephane Savard in Canada.  He made .stl files for 20, 40 ft containers, standaard and high cube versions.  Really nice detail!  I printed a bunch of 20 and 40 foot standard containers, airbrushed the paint, and decaled with MicroScale decals.  They came out really nice.  I do not have enough posts yet to add a picture, but soon...

You can find the whole thread and the downloads over at Trainboard (https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/containers.145637/)

I mostly lurk here, seems I can't post pictures either - I just don't post enough (I never seem to have much to contribute to the level of railroading you guys do compared to the toys I play with  :D)

Anyway, the files are available for download in the resource section of Trainboard, and are free.  They probably aren't super easy to use because I made them for myself really, but after being asked I provided them with a creative commons non-commercial license (do what you want with the files, but keep it non-commercial!)

As for filament printers, feel free to try, but I've never owned a filament printer and I'm pretty sure the details are much too fine for anything other than a resin printer.

Hi  The level of detail that Stephane put into the .stl file will not be reproduced in filament (FDM) type printers.  My university students struggled with detail levels in many different types of FDM units- so they went to resin.  My son has a high-end Prusa FDM, but he wants me to print his fine stuff in resin for his Z scale layout...

Yeah, FDM printers are not for fine detail.  They're best for structural elements that require moderate strength, with very little detail.
