Looking for Template/Plans for GP7U Topeka Cab

Wondering if anyone has information about modeling the ubiquitous Santa Fe "Topeka Cab" to modify a high-nose Geep into a GP7U.

This specific mod is being attempted in Z-scale, but the information could be useful for N.  I know there have been various iterations of these in N over the years...I personally had a very nice version from Mark4 at one point.   There were some very rough resin shells, and probably several others I don't even know about.   And in N, with the IMRC GP10's it might not be a stretch to see these as a production model at some point...which may well make this a Z-only (maybe O or S too?) discussion.  (Athearn has done these R-T-R in HO)

I have a pretty good article from the June 2009 MR but no drawings or "templates" like they used to include when fabricating cabs.  I'm guessing there are dozens of articles on these, and maybe one has plans, dimensions, templates, etc.   Also could probably find more info from the ATSF Historical Society.   Buying one of the Athearns could also be a source of info.  Just thought I'd see if anyone that has "been there done that" might have some direction.

I can likely fabricate something in Z that would satisfy my requirements just using the photos from the MR article and the cabs from some GP38 shells I have sitting around, but what I would prefer to do is put together a file so they can be printed.  If I'm gonna do that, I want to get it as "legit" as possible.

There is also the barrier of having to mill down the frames in the AZL GP7's...and that may be a non-starter and this project won't even get off the ground. (or at very least significantly more complicated and delayed)  I suppose the GP30 frames might be another possibility.   I would really love to not end up with a $500 build budget though.   As it stands the Geeps cost $92ea (Black Friday deal, two for $184 taxed/shipped) and if I use the AZL GP38 cab that's another $30 or so. (assuming I can't use the rest of the shell for something else)

NOTE: This is a "Black Friday" deal, and subject to disappear at any time now. (mid December 2019)  The offer is only for C&O and Pennsy.

The C&O are close enough to ATSF--and cheap enough--that I thought this is how I would take a chance on the conversion.   I was a little disappointed to find that--unlike the new AZL stuff--I was unable to easily remove the C&O lettering and logos from the GP7's.   That would have made things a LOT easier if the blue paint was still in tact.

I also found out that the GP30's aren't as close to the GP7's as I'd remembered so that's not an option.  But, the height of the frame is almost identical so it wouldn't be much (if any) of a benefit anyway.  I'm not even sure I'll have to trim the frame at all given the high-riding cab, plus it looks like I could file down the frame some without causing too many problems.  So I'm not as concerned about that problem anymore.

Thanks for the suggestion.   Actually, I did chat with them at the OKC show for a brief bit.   The guy I was speaking with was unfamiliar with the Topeka cab conversions but he pointed me in the right direction.  I haven't had an opportunity to follow up yet though.

I was very close to buying one of the Athearn's at the OKC show to use as a guide, but decided against it.  So I'll still see what I can come up with othewise before going down that path.

Can you take solid works files?  I have a full set of modeled parts for this cab in HO, if I remember correctly.  Was working on a project for the now deceased Ron at DPH.  It was developed from prototype drawings.

I'm reviving this thread because...
1. The subject matter has come back again as an interest.   This was right before Covid and while some of you had nice cushy WFH schedules during Covid, I worked 80+ hour weeks for about 3 years straight.   So I'm just catching up on some things.   ;)   (that wasn't meant to be resentful, I truly am thankful that I had a job while many didn't during that period.   Just busting chops a *little*...)
2. Speaking of come back again, the AZL deals on these locos are back.  Limited availability and a few days left on the sale, but the price is right if you are interested. https://ztrackcenter.com/azl/azl-black-friday?limit=100
3. I swore I had followed up with Mike about this, but I don't find anything in my Sent Items or any other correspondence.   So I am hoping to do that.

So @Sokramiketes to answer your question...   I don't personally have a way to work with SolidWorks files, but I have friends that I'm almost 100% sure can.
