First try on a fade with an airbrush. This mini portable one worked very well.

On the railbox I think I did a couple passes to many. I need a better light.

The Roundhouse MILW is now what I was after. I'll keep playing with that one.

Ghost lettering is cool, but I miss my magna visor. Still not back in my own townhouse 22 months after my neighbors fire,  but I couldn't resist finally breaking ousome trains to do some modeling.

That's it for tonight. Tomorrow I'll start adding on heavier effects like rust and grime.

Well, I feel your pain....I would be happy to be making those same mistakes honestly.

And I think this is salvagable, depending on your era.  Mask the ribs, spot rust the roof, come back with a medium rust (thin/wash) coat all around, and go from there.

Always another option, is not hard to strip and repaint these cars. In such case the base car color can be mixed to as light a shade as you like to represent fading.

Edit - IIRC, Circus City makes RBOX decals with ghost lettering.  I have a set somewhere, tho I haven't yet gotten around to trying it.
