To me those are rather ugly locos.  Not quite as hideous as the Amtrak Acela replacement, but still up there in ugliness.

They do look a little odd.  But, then, a lot of today's locos look a little odd to me.  I didn't see many trains between the early 80s and 2012! 

Not as odd as BNSF 972554.  As far as I know it's the only rotary snowplow ever rebuilt from a GP38-2, with one 3-axle and one 2-axle truck.  And, yes, it is classed as a RSP38-2.

That scheme would be incredible on a normal standard or wide cab Dash 9.

Definitely some interesting looking locomotives. From what I can read they're supposed to be remote control units so  they can be operated by MOW employees at a work site.

They'd look better if they were the same height all the way back, or if they had rooftop fans like EMD used to use, to fill the empty space.  As it is they look like they tried to back under a low bridge.
