Stripping Paint fro Rapido N Locos

Has anyone stripped an N scale Rapido engine and, if so, was it difficult (like Kato) or easier?

I am interested in striping and repainting an F9 and and FPA-4.

On Rapido passenger cars I’ve used non-acetone nail polish remover. Worked like a charm. IPA not so much.
