Geoff Gooderham passenger cars?

Does anyone know if Geoff Gooderham still sells N scale passenger car shells? The Central Hobbies website where you used to be able to order them says that they are closed and no longer accepting orders.

Thanks,
-Mark

Central Hobbies was acquired (not sure if this was a buy out or inheritance, or exactly what) by a company called InterCity Hobbies.

Your topic reminded me I had been meaning to ask them about the Geoff Gooderham models as well.  So, I used their online message system and sent an inquiry.  I will post any response I get.

I've been wanting some of his Fowler boxcars but I haven't seen them listed.

As a side note, the grove/2200/mail/baggage cars can be made more accurate by using specific trucks that were designed by Panamint Models and printed through Shapeways, which of course is no longer available. Glad I stocked up on both styles of the cpr trucks a while back! Anyone know if Panamint is selling elsewhere? (Sorry to drift from the main topic of discussion)

Here is the reply I had from Intercity (I also had asked about the Athabasca line of car sides and details, in case someone had taken that line over after the owners closed up shop):

Quote
Hi Tom,

We do have a few of Geoff’s kits available and actually had him make a few more in the fall for us as we had a few people asking.  We just haven’t had the time to get them up online yet.

Let me know what you are looking for in Geoff’s kits and we can see what we have in store and reach out to him if need be.

I checked with Hal from Central Hobbies and he confirmed that the Athabasca product line is 'dead and gone’ now.

So, it appears they are available, and some may be in stock.  As of this morning, the old Central Hobbies page still exists, showing the product line - https://www.central-hobbies.com/products/ggood.html

For the Athabasca kits, I did manage to order sides directly from them not all that long ago. They no longer had core kits, just sides though. Worth sending them an email to see what they still have in stock, if you are after anything in particular.

Good to know that Athabasca are still filling occasional orders. I did the same thing a year or two after they formally closed, and they shipped me several sets of sides.  I bought the last they had of the sides I was most interested in.  Metal car sides in N are a rarity nowadays.  I think Brass Car Sides is the last company that still has a website up and filling orders on a regular basis.
Edit: I see that KV models site is also up and running, although some sides have been discontinued.

I exist!

I have the greatest respect for Intercity Hobbies and I’m so happy there is still a first rate local rail-centric hobby shop in the area. They are doing a great job filling that role in our region. However, at this point they don’t seem to be all that excited to stock my products, and although I’ve recently restocked one my models ( “Canadian slab side covered hopper”), I haven’t been asked to restock any of my other items. To be completely honest, I’ve not pushed the point because producing all these kits can really take up a lot of time and I’ve got plenty of other things to do with my time. But if I’m asked, I will…

In the mean time, if anybody ‘needs’ anything from my selection I will produce them as requested, but please note that I prefer to wait till I have a demand for 20 - 30 items so I can set myself up for ‘batch production’. Drop me a PM…

Thanks Mark, I really appreciate this. If you’re interested, I can add a few cars that are not included in your listing including the 36 foot ‘Dominion’ (Fowler) boxcar, and the 36 foot stock car that it spawned, the “Big Otis” coal gondola, the “Canadian” slab side covered hopper, the the CP 8 hatch overhead bunker ice reefer in both hinged door and plug door freight version and plug door express versions, and the wood express reefer. And maybe some better photos - I think those photos are all by Mike (Puddington) McGrattan and some of them look a little murky - I’d be happy to help with that. And the wood combine is ‘out of production’ - it’s just not up to standard.

Thanks for all you do - I use your listings all the time.
