Shapeways is jacking up the FUD/FXD pricing

On the heels of this topic https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=55691.0, I suspect that Shapeways is phasing out their FUD/Smooth Fine Detail and FXD/Smoothest Fine Details plastics by increasing them THIRTY FIVE PERCENT, 35% and offering a way to make the new Gray and Clear Ultra the primary materials.

Gray (new value pricing) and Clear Ultra (equivalent pricing to the prior FXD) will continue their current pricing, see below:

"Hi,

As you may have noticed, we recently launched Gray and Clear Ultra Fine Detail Plastic which shows exceptional contrast and clarity printed on our new Projet 2500s. In comparison with our Smooth and Smoothest Fine Detail Plastic, these new materials are completely encapsulated in support material, providing a more consistent finish.

As we have now rolled out these new materials, the cost of our existing Smooth and Smoothest Fine Detail Plastic will increase by 35% on Wednesday, April 26th.

Gray and Clear Ultra will remain at their current price. The minimum for Gray is $5 and $7.50 for Clear Ultra to help with the small parts advantage

You do not need to change your price and your mark up will remain the same, but the base price will increase.

We have updated the Pricing CSV Wizard so you can set a default material for each product!  For reference, the default material for your product is the price that is seen in the Marketplace search. Therefore, if you’d like your product to have the more economical option, you can set it to Gray Fine Detail Plastic before April 26th, see more details here.

If you have not yet ordered Gray and Clear Ultra, use code 15FDPEXTEND on one purchase from now until April 25th for 15% off your order.

As we continue to improve the Marketplace user experience, we would love your feedback on what to prioritize. Please complete the quick 5 question survey!

If you have any questions on any of the items mentioned above, reach out to VIP@shapeways.com!

Best,
Shapeways Customer Support"

Looks like they want to step back from the ProJet printing formats.  Makes sense if the newer technology is better and results in fewer complaints.

Nope, the new material is also printed on Projets:

Hi John,

Agree with your opinion.....
Got a second order in from Shapeways today which I ordered both in GRAY and CLEAR.
Same as in your case the CLEAR is definitely good and much better than the previous SMOOTHEST.
I will clean the models and try the AIR ERASER treatment and post pictures then.
