Okay... stiff-bristled brooms, often with wire bristles, are common in snow areas to clear frogs and points. I see a points heater there, too.

Note that the closer broom has straw bristles and is close to useless. My guess it's a hardware-store broom, which certainly can't take much use this way. The farther broom has steel bristles.

I do a fair amount of business with the Alaska Railroad and this was sent to us yesterday.
Outside of Girdwood, AK.

Oh wow, that's quite the mess... probably worse than what the crew se out in their shorts on spotting it.

1) In Montana to shoot MRL powered trains. Chases this.

2) Helena local at Townsend working the lime plant. Interesting track arrangement in this industry you can model, seems they use the short tail track in foreground to kick loads back to the track where the more distant crewmember is throwing the switch. The GP9 / SD70ACe combo is odd.

3) Caught light power heading down the 5th Sub (former main over Homesake Pass to Butte) to Whitehall where there were eight covered hoppers to lift and a few more covered hoppers left by a previous crew to spot. Lifted four empty animal feed cars and four loads of not sure from a loadout in town. They unload animal feed on the west leg of the wye in town, and the crew made full use of all legs in their switching. The wye, btw, is the connection to the abandoned but still mostly intact Virginia City branch. This there's an isolated tourist train in VC.

Anyways, here they are returning to Logan through the Jefferson River canyon... pretty impressive scenery here.

A lot of water around Australia in 2022, and continues to do so in some places. At Murray Bridge in South Australia river levels have risen in the last few weeks from rain that feel upstream two months prior. The 'Burdett Swamp' in the foreground is usually dry - the main body of the Murray River is in the background. Crossing the bridge is the weekly 'Great Southern' luxury train from Adelaide to Brisbane that runs during the summer months - taken 20 January 2023.
