I've been working on some Rock Island Slugs to fit on the Con-Cor calf mechanism for a friend ..

This is what I am trying to capture ..

I need to figure out how to make the handrail .. the holes are molded into the model for easy alignment

you might try printing the handrail directly on the model.

I've had good luck with grab irons in HO Scale

Yea .. that was the next step .. I'm going to do some gold medal model grabs though .. but I think the hand rails came out decent .. I need to reprint this because the lines are irritating .. and I used a bit too much mr. surfacer primer

Made some progress this week after not working on this for quite a while due to family commitments ..  I'm only doing 998 and wrapping this project up .. I didn't remove the fuel tanks from the finished model - since it's not mine -- but it could be removed pretty easily

How did the vents become so much more pronounced (sticky outy) with paint, vs the 3d renderings and print samples.

And I'm not talking paint thickness, it looks like you added .010 squares between the vent and the body....

I changed the final configuration to bring them out some more. I wasn't getting the relief that I thought it needed ..  it's probably a little too far out there .. but at the three food distance, its not too bad
