Metal Earth Train (almost N Gauge!)

This is the Metal Earth BNSF train that I built and presented to a friend who had worked for BNSF. It is very, very close to N Gauge, so I decided to post it to this forum. I did not give him the gondola car that is part of the set since it wouldn't fit in the case.

The kit was fairly challenging to put together, and as you build each car your skills definitely improve. I did put the caboose roof on upside down, so the ladders and running boards are on the wrong sides of the caboose.  :(

I think it turned out very well and my friend appreciated receiving it.

The waycar is recognizable as a Burlington NE-12 Havelock built car. 
This is the car Bachmann has used on their train sets for decades….in HO and recently released in newly tooled upgrade for the first time in CB&Q livery.   It is also the car that Miasto copied in a near-TT Scale (1:120) in cast metal toy.
I wish somebody would do a Q waycar in N instead of tantalizing us with almost 1:160 versions (NM2 Bobbers are also made….as pencil sharpeners in bigger than N and key fobs in smaller than N…usually found for sale at Railroad Museum gift shops.

I love those kits.  I received the "Wild West 4-4-0" last Christmas and I only pick at it now and then, gradually putting it together (there's only so much time in a day).  They are really enjoyable, fun kits.

That company makes dozens  of various folding metal models. Wide range of subjects.  I have several (still unbuilt).
