Don't google image search "Haru Hitomi".

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

A Sad Update, In November, I moved out of my house into Independent Living complex in my neighborhood. My two bedroom apartment may have room for a small layout, we shall see. My vast and I do mean Vast collection of locos and rolling stock is being packed up by several fellow model rails. I will b e keeping selected trains to run at train shows on the Wasatch N Scale layout http://www.wasatchnscale.org parts of the layout , sceneiked sections and rail yard will be acquired by club members who wanted them.  The end of an era since I have been an N scaler/gauge modeler since 1965 when I started out with Lone Star 000 trains and later Arnold Rapido. Nate Goodman. (Nato). "W-A-A-A-A!"  :x  :( :(

I agree with Ed! TTrak time man!! You can make small modules, that don't take up too much space! and when you get board, sell a module and build something new to go in it's place!!

Sad to hear this Nate, but then again this faith (or even worse) awaits us all at some point.  You layout was really nice!  Good to know that you will still remain active here, and continue your morel RR adventures.  Will you be also be able to keep some of your sexy anime figures?

My other hobby (besides N scale RR) is plastic model kits (automotive, bikes, trucks, planes, and others).  I know I will never be able to build all the ones I have  I really need to start considering what to do with all of them.

I'm one of Nate's helpers, and it IS sad to sort through all of Nate's myriad engines, cars, spare parts, kits...etc., etc.  However, most of Nate's layout is being preserved by fellow model railroaders, namely his yard, Riverside (with the Goodman Farm and Weber River and the small Branchline Yard), and all of the Kelly Canyon modules, with my and Nate's late friend Kelly Newton's fabulous rock carvings and my custom bridges and tunnel portals.  That leaves only three Ntrak modules that were plugged into the layout that haven't been spoken for, two of them being basically unfinished bridge modules with easily removed city buildings and paper mockup streets, sidewalks and grassy areas.

On the good side, Nate has a list of trains he wants to run at the local shows, which will fill up a couple of storage bins and will be easily stored in his new residence, so he is far from being out of the hobby.  A lot of his other mountain of stuff will be stored where he can get at them easily.

Also in a positive vein, it's good to know that portions of Nate's layout will continue on with enthusiastic new owners!

Cheerio!

To add to Nate's saga, several of his model railroad friends have been assisting Nate to get his literal mountain of model railroad cars, locomotives, structures, kits, books ready for the big "giveaway" that happened last weekend (March 12 & 13 2022)  Members of the model railroad club Nate has been associated with for years were there as well as some other friends who have been influenced by Nate, his knowledge and generosity to sort through Nate's stuff and accept Nate's gifts to them.

I've been assisting Nate for some time to help him get organized and choose the trains that he will want to keep and run at shows in the future, which has been fun but also a bit sad.

However, it isn't the "end of an era"...it is a change in Nate's life that has many positive points and includes continuing participation in the hobby, but with far less accumulated merchandise since Nate's new apartment is much smaller than the trainroom in his ancestral home.

His layout is going to a good friend and N-scale enthusiast who is also much younger than either Nate or me, but well established in the community.  I'm pretty happy that it is staying put-together, and I'll be continuing to work on it periodically while my physicality allows me to do that.

We are moving the layout this week to be stored for a while, while the new owner moves things around to makes space for it in its new location.  Luckily, it was conceived when Kelly Newton and I built the benchwork years ago as being able to be broken down and moved...another big plus for thinking "modular/sectional", which my own layout benefits from too.

Nate chose to give away (GIVE AWAY) most of his vast collection of cars, engines and books to his model railroad friends and associates, which is incredibly generous.  Some friends chose to pay him because they felt oddly about taking such valuable items, but I think it was a surprise to Nate that they did so, since that was not Nate's original intent to make money from his accumulated model railroad property.

I helped distribute Nate's engines and cars, and I admit it brought very good feelings to see recipients' eyes light up when they took possession of items they had wanted for years, or things that they missed when first introduced, and thought never to be able to have and run!

Of course, Nate was there in the middle of the maelstrom, telling stories about various model railroad and prototype subjects!

By next weekend, most of it will be gone, with several boxes of trains that Nate wants to run at shows and lots of smiles on the faces and in the hearts of Nate's model railroad friends!

As for myself...Thanks Nate!!  I look forward to many years yet of being your buddy and assisting if needed in your model railroading efforts!

Cheerio!

Bob, You are welcome. As to the earlier question about my doll (Japanese doll visible in many layout photos over the years she is over here in the computer room of my new apartment along with a couple of large RC Boats I used to sail with a friend. Nate Goodman.
