I have just picked up one of these here in the UK. I can get the body off OK, but can't see how to access the motor. I presume the chassis pictures here are of this loco, so how do I get into it ?? Also which decoder will fit (DZ126 etc??) I presume there is room in the cab for one of these.

Thanks for any help on this, but I don't want to damage  anything fragile!

Can it run on Code 40 rail? And which MTL coupler can be selected for replacement? Thanks.

The key to getting small coreless motors to run well, regardless of poles, skew wound, or any other thing that we know works, is to use a low frequency PWM throttle.  Those like Varipulse and Medvend come to mind but I'm sure there are others.  As long as you don't try to use the PWM to reduce max rated voltage (don't do it ever) the motors take it fine, even like it.  Here's a link to a source for Medvend controllers.  http://www.ztrackcenter.com/electronics/AN-1-SAC

And if the speed is outrageous consider reducing the supply voltage even if you are within the motor rating.  It extends the motor life measurably. 8)  This information is from doing extensive miniature (6mm and smaller) motor research and testing.
