Milwaukee Road Mail Train 57 Circa 1949

I've been working on a mail train.  Here's some video of it in its natural environment, through some of the Milwaukee Road scenes on the Modutrak layout.

E6's are modified Broadway Limited units.
The two styles of Milwaukee Road heavyweight baggage cars with doors near the ends are Joe Valerio resin castings.
The 1948 baggage car is a Skytop Models casting on a Kato chassis.
The NYC shorty baggage is a Skytop Models casting.
The NYC express reefer is an NJ International brass car, custom painted.
The MTL heavyweight baggage was shortened and doors matched, while maintaining the factory paint.
The last Milwaukee Road ribbed side express box is also a Skytop Models resin casting.
The rider car is a kitbashed car from FVM parts.

Mike,

Great video. Are the Joe Valerio castings available to purchase, I would love to get some?
Also could you give more details on the shortened MTL baggage, how short and what car number is it now?
Thanks, always love seeing your modeling.

Nice video, Mike, and nice looking train.  How was the show in Madison?

Looks great running through Title Text Here.

Seriously though, looks fantastic.

I'm amused the way that railroads would assign the shittier power to the train that was actually making them money.

I see Powerton jct. recognized it thanks to Jim Starbucks electric. I helped take those tracks out mid 70s

Thanks Randy,

I’m flattered that you recognized the location and TMER&L L-4.

I think I cleared out the last remains of Joe's castings a couple years back.

Same car number, I think it's 837.  The MTL model had different door widths, whereas the prototype didn't.  So I cut enough out to make the doors even.

Otto K.

Corner modules are 5 foot radius, so that puts the track in the 52" radius zone.

What's wrong with an eight-year-old pair of E6 locos?

You’re much younger than I thought Mike.   :D
I saw what looked like a couple of Jamie’s modules.  What’s he been up to?  It’s been a while since he’s posted, I think.

Gorgeous train! Those broad curves and uncluttered modules really let my eyes stick to the train. And the working signals are awesome, but I imagine they are extra challenging on re-arrangeable modules.

Mike,

Watched the video twice.  Just excellent (as always)!

I'm working on an equivalent pulled by SP power to Ogden, then pulled by UP power.  A GS-2 to FEF power exchange with some cars being switched.  Too bad I'll probably never have the time to build the Ogden Yard!

Cheerio!
