I just joined this website two days ago on advice from a friend. Apparently either few actually READ these forums ( along with photos ) or nobody on here cares for Santa Fe railroad. I joined due to the boredom of putting up with the " Train Orders" modeling forum! I guess I will continue with them as atleast one get's a response!

Maybe give us a minute?  I was mostly offline this weekend so I'm just getting a chance to hit the forums aside from a quick glance from the mobile.  And I agree...a little backstory would be good.   Your friend may have misled you....this isn't the place for general "attaboys".

Despite living less than two hours away, I never made it to Cleburne in its "heyday".  (mostly as I was too young in the 70's)  I've been past in recent years but of course it is a speck of what it used to be.

I sure remember the Cleburne shops - I remember reading about the shops back in the 70s - RMC I think it was.

txtrainman43, I was away from the boards the last few days but I saw this and wanted to give you a shout out for the nice modeling and excellent selection of a Texas based prototype!

Sadly, the HO forum here doesn't get much traffic. But if you post over in the Layout Engineering forum a lot more people will see your work and comment on it.

I was born after the heyday of CF7's and high hood GP's on the ATSF in Texas, but it is a really cool era to model
 I have some circa 1972-74 ATSF/Amtrak consists for the Texas Chief/Lone Star I run at shows and it has been really hard to not start building up a pool of freight equipment to run with them. If someone came out with an RTR CF7 in N it would be even harder to resist!

I also don't visit the H0 forum often, but seeing this I decided to show couple of those ugly diesels in the wild (one still showing ATSF war-paint) at the Amtrak's Northampton St. service facility in Boston, MA. That was back in June 1990.



BTW the white car visible in the lower part of the photo is my 1976 Camaro I used to drive at that time.  I wouldn't mind going back in time to those days.  Taking train photos was much easier in those days.  They would let me lose in the yard, and even lend me a hard hat!  Imagine that happening today!
