Hi, does anyone have any idea how to separate tender shell from it's frame?
I removed the trucks, and screws in each corner of the frame. Not budging.
 I need to grind away the metal coupler post at rear of tender for a Z905.

I figured it out. Will tell and have pix later.
  Ok, here's how separate tender shell from it's frame:

 First remove the center wheelset from each tender truck. Now you can access the truck mounting screws to remove the trucks.
 With the trucks removed, you can now see screws at each corner of the frame. Remove those screws. Now slightly thread the truck mounting screw into their holes, and lift up!
 You can disconnect the wires from cab at the connector. Something I've never seen before are the rivet mounted contacts on the frame.

Mine finally arrived and I promptly test-fit the GHQ Hiawatha F-7 shell.  It'll do nicely!

Something I've never seen before are the rivet mounted contacts on the frame.

Perhaps Atlas should give that method a try given the issues with soldering the motor contact tabs to the PC board seen on the latest run of the ex-Walthers/Life-Like RS-2 locos.

You had me confused - the tender doesn't have a frame - only a plastic floor.  Then it hit me: you meant "the decoder PC board". Yes I see rivets and springy leaves.  I was taking you too literally. 

This is not the first time the used that scheme.  Acela uses that same design on all the (lighted) cars. How long ago was it made (and only one run)?  I think it was in the '90s (over 20 years ago).  I think  I also seen this method on other models. I think other Bachmann tenders also use riveted strips mounted on the PC board.  I'm not sure if I like that since the strips are rather short (not much flexibility).  But I guess it works.

It was late when I posted that Pete. Sorry for the confusion. But the truck "prongs" really reach up there.
 I don't have a layout currently, just 6' of flex. But after some running back and forth, it runs very well at slow speed.
