Hi.
Just wondering, since I haven't bought a loco or read specs about them in years, is 'Keep Alive' now a part of the circuitry of any of them ? Is it now 'on board' or, even becoming so ? I think an extra, say $25, would be worth it to know it's there..
Man, do I hate stall-outs !!!
btw. How much work/$ does it take to install it ? I have 1 Bach RS3 and 3 Bach steam. Still planning a small L shelfie ....

Thanks, M

Unbeknownst to me, my HO scale ScaleTrains SD45 and C39-7 both came with keep-alives installed from the factory.  A nice surprise.  I have added keep-alives on my own sound installations, too.  Only two to three wires to solder, depending on the brand you use.  The hardest part is figuring out where to put it to make it fit, but that’s not impossible in HO scale.  The newer ESU Power Pack has three wires, but I believe the extra wire has to do with the keep-alive being deactivated during programming.  It was still easy to install, although there is a CV reprogramming that has to happen to activate the Power Pack.

Hope this helps,
DFF

Good to know it's becoming a common feature and that it's relatively easy to install...Thanks for replies. M
