Four years ago yesterday, one of the most amazing lash-ups we have seen in South Australia for many a year, Southern Shorthaul Railroad locos B61/S317/GM27/GM10/S302 slow for a cross at Gladstone SA, with their long-distance wagon transfer bound for New South Wales - 2 December 2016. All five are still in regular use with SSR as of December 2020  as are the redundant coal hoppers they are towing which were all later converted by SSR to carry grain.

I finally got a slide scanner ... I've got to find out the best way to clean up my slide collection (been bouncing around for decades!).

These are a couple of test scans - Nikon F shots from my first "railfan" trip after I got my license. Hagerstown MD Vardo Yard ... 1975ish

Unfortunately the coaling tower pic didn't turn out so well (it's long gone).

EDIT: it appears that this tender is still with us!  8) It looks to be the same tender #6659 that the T1 Trust purchased in recent years: http://www.trainweb.org/wnyrhs/tenderFrame1Source1.htm

Yes - there were 26 built for the Victorian state railway in Australia  - I'll post another pic of one next week.

A handful of European operators also had slightly similar double-ended EMD style cab units as well.

Years ago Minitirx made a model of it. More recently Kato made similar model for the European market (much better quality of course).

The Australian streamliners are availabe in N scale.
The double ended locomotive is a B class
The single ended is an S Class or a GM class.
