B&O N decals - steam & diesel early?

I do like to admit (particularly to this group) that there are smarter people than me in the room.

OK, so I got a custom work request for a big slew of B&O stuff, transition steam and early diesel scheme (blue/gray/black)

Problem has become decals.   With some research I 'think' I've discovered that the closest sets I've found (and that are apparently out of production) were Micro Scale 60-83 for the steam, and for E-units 60-396.   Found them on the auction sites but not on the current Microscale website.

But, apparently there are also some F's and FA's on request.   Now, B&O guys, will that 60-396 set work on F's and FA's?   I suspect not, for some reason - maybe the nose curves - because Micro Scale still lists an O scale set specifically for the F and FA, so there must be a trick here I don't know.   I may be able to frutz the nose curves but if the lettering spacing is completely different between an F and and E, let me know.

The other thing I don't know is if I'm missing an obvious niche supplier here someplace that does them.   That would be nice.  But I checked all the usual suspects and I'm not finding anything so I'll ask for help here.

Back in the 80's I did a big custom fleet of the sold blue B&O diesels using scabbed HO sets and some steam using (horrors!) the decals that came with Atlas undec steam locomotives.  That's how long it has been since I've messed with that railroad.

I don't know of any B&O diesel decals other than what you posted.  There are some transition steam decals, both from Microscale and a set made special order for a guy on the B&O group.  I saw some of those were for sale on eBay a little while ago, as were the Microscale sets for steam.

Probably the best place to ask this question is on the B&O groups.io list.  BaltimoreAndOhioRailroadList.groups.io

I'm confused.  Microscale set 60-52 is listed as in stock, and covers B&O F units and FA units.  The steam set (60-83) is also listed as in stock.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

All the stuff you need is in stock at Microscale.

http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=MD&Category_Code=BO&Product_Code=&Search=&Sort_By=newest&Per_Page=-1

If there is anything you need that it doesn't cover, let me know. I can probably find it or print it for you.

I have a friend that wants me to paint some gp7/9 for him at some point in the future. He’s looking to do freight scheme. Will the micro scale set work for these?

OK, I see the problem here.

If you go on to the Microscale site, and search for "Baltimore & Ohio", those sets don't show up but others do

If you search for "B&O" it is an invalid search and comes back with no hits

I see on your search you found them but I can't replicate the search string either.

Not quite as frustrating as Shapeways but gets honorable mention.

I agree with Randgust that I can't duplicate Skipgear's search in Microscales'e website. @randgust, can you explain how you specified your search parameters?  I tried several approaches and none came up with the steam or F-unit decals in N scale.  Trying to search by scale seemed to be a dead end.  Searching all scales by "Baltimore" seemed to get some N (plus other scales), but the decals that Randgust wants were not listed in any of my searches.

Don't search, use the "quick links" in the top right corner. Then sort by code, either ascending or descending to group decals by scale.

Wow, that's pushing the award for 'worst search system' that I thought Shapeways Marketplace had the lock on.

Micro Scales search is bad for sure. Try finding stuff that doesn't have a road name. Was getting some intermodal stuff for my son and it simply took a line by line search to see what they had.

Makes you wish that you had an up-to-date hardcopy of the printed catalog, which comes equipped with a "human brain and fingers" search engine, which works very well.
