New Post w/ Photo?
« on: July 20, 2020, 08:29:37 AM »
Kindly let me know how to attach some photos to my new post as I find an error message of "You are not allowed to add a picture." when I click "Add images  to post and upload to gallery".

Thank you.

Ryoichi-san,

Members must make at least 25 posts before they are able to upload pictures.
You'll get to 25 very quickly if you make several short posts introducing yourself and your interests.

Welcome!

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Think this is the most common issue/question for newcomers. Is there a better, more clear way to communicate it?

There's actually a subforum of the Administrative Forum entitled "FAQ," and within that subforum is a thread entitled "New Member (and guest) limits/restrictions," which addresses this issue for folks with less than twenty-five posts.  But, I think it's too buried to expect a new member to find it, and so they tend to do the easy thing, which is to post a question to the forum.

And, in the case of @0303fxm, seeing that he's posting from Japan, I don't know if English is Ryoichi's primary language.

Yes, the New Member Limits and Restrictions are listed in https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=43673.0 .

Then instructions on how to upload photos (once 25 post count is met) are in https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=42854.0

@tom mann
It would be nice that once a member joins the forum, if there was an automated email sent to them with either the board's rules/limits/restrictions spelled out, or pointing them to the relevant threads about the restrictions and how to post photos.

This is kinda what I was thinking. I know some of us have a hard time locating different things in the site, myself included! 🤣

Thanks guys for advices.  Now I understand the rules here and would post up to 25 including this one.

I have been enjoying American N scale for 35 years, and feel this forum is so nice for me to know various updates on new products, events, other’s interesting threads & model techniques, etc.  I am not so good at English conversation but reading/writing is comfortable, except for slangs and everyday wording.  Accordingly I understand only 50% sentences in this forum.

I joined N scale convention held in Portland, Oregon back in 2009 and met some friends in the US, including Lowell Smith and NSE staff.  That was so fantastic days!  Mr. Hiroshi Kato was there and he is an old friend of mine.

Thanks again guys!
