Out in the Southern California desert last December. There were three of them there. From what I read on line there is (or was) a lawsuit going on about their status and the status of the railroad that owns them. I am not sure how all that turned out.

Out in the Southern California desert last December. ...

Oooo... glad you said that. I saw the picture and immediately thought "wait a minute, that's not Idaho, that's home", having grown up in the SoCal high desert.

Nice paint scheme. Thanks for posting the shot!

Not my photo, so I will not paste it here....  But if you model the north east in late 60 / early 70's, you'll want to see this image of a ACL gon begging to be modeled.... image from the Lake State Archive.

At this point, I'd even take him over the current occupant! :facepalm:

@NYNE

Pacific Imperial Railroad is B/K and gone.  But last I went by, those IN&P locos are still sitting in the desert near Coyote Wells, stripped, just over the hill from where I am in San Diego.  Line where they sit is owned by San Diego's MTS at the UP interchange.  A new freight operator is trying to open up the SD&AE again, Baja Rail.  Not sure on who bought the rights to scrap these GeePs.

An old post card I got somewhere.  The Rock Island at Waterloo, IA.

The two tracks in the foreground are the CGW.  They ran parallel down Bluff St. for several blocks. At one point the RI drew up plans to take the tower section off the depot.  The depot still stands today.
