VW Beatle with an outboard engine.  They used to advertise that the things would float.

Or the European (Italian?) amphibious car from the 1960s.  Somebody in Pasco had one.  He worked at Hanford, across the Columbia and upstream from Pasco.  Instead of driving the long way around, across the river to Kennewick, then through Richland, to Hanford, he went to a boat ramp in west Pasco, then upriver to the north end of Richland.  Back on land, he was almost at the Hanford gates.

Bass boats:  Many today, and in the past, look like simple metal stampings.  I wonder if the same method could be used to mass-produce models of them?  Or would that be TOO fragile, especially for shipping and handling?

As with Challenge #3, I think if it's made clear the status of the project at the start, it should be fine.

I guess we should adopt this thread as Challenge #4 to keep things clear...  Please include "Challenge #4" in your thread title.

Okay gang i'm out of the challenge going back to stock car racing and won't have time for models or trains they are all going to be sold off to generate some funds.

Been fun while it lasted.

Started messing around with this for a potential TTrak project...if there's going to be a lift bridge, I guess there will have to be a boat.



I suppose some sort of tug/barge or canal boat will do.  When I get far enough along I'll start a fresh thread.

Just to be sporting, I'll wake this back up.
I'm sad to report that my lift bridge project will be on hold until I get a few more things done on the Retro 2.0 layout.  The good news is, I am modeling the Paw Paw Bends of the Potomac on my little hollow core door, which will include a segment of the C&O Canal...  Since I also have a Bachmann 4-4-0 American in B&O livery, I'll also need a canal boat.

So I'll be working on something that's about 40' long and 15' wide that I can drop into the scene for those occasions when the 19th Century appears in the corner of the office.
