Well, here are the results of my method..

Example Used:
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Result for vector conversion..
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

It's a little rough.. as cad didn't render it as clearly as it could..  And I still had both the fills and outlines in place.
Deleting the fills and refilling in photo shop might clean things up a bit.

Wait a minute - Peteski should be here griping about the inaccuracies and about how to use the most complicated and esoteric methods to bring perfection to those tiny N scale signs. Oh wait . . . peteski? Peteski?  :)

You guys are even crazier than I am.   8)

Most/all of those signs were handpainted and each sign painter may have had his/her own variation. I have an original ATSF/UP ticket sign from the Devore, CA depot (gone by 1950) and it's totally handpainted and the fonts are not consistent from word to word (or even within words), but viewing at 20'+ you can't tell.

At 3' tall in N Scale the Photoshop perspective modification should work fine.

@RRRover, would you mind sharing a photo of that sign, preferably straight on, with me? I built a model of the Devore depot for my layout (see below) and if it was an exterior sign, would love to include it.

Btw, this has been a very educational thread, the first two pages, anyway :P
Thanks, Otto K.

You know, Otto, when you posted this I thought it was a nice photo of the prototype that maybe Steinheimer or one of his buddies took in the '50s when they were fooling around with early Kodachrome (ASA=1). I just clicked to enlarge your pic and was blown away in the realization it was a model. Fan-super-tastic! The peeling paint on the fascia is genius. My hat is off, sir!

Devore was a frequent hangout for my railfan clique in the '70s when we were 'fanning Cajon. Of course the station was long gone, but there was this mom-and-pop hamburger stand where Devore Rd. crossed the tracks. Food was good, and we were just a few feet from the tracks so didn't have to miss any action. Wistful memories...

Thanks for the compliment, Mike!
I used to hang out at Joe’s by the tracks as well, good chili burgers, beer and outdoor benches right by the RR.
UP, ATSF, and SP as a bonus!
Good times...
