Wow, looks really sharp!Never knew Jason did a GS-1 casting. Was this a recent casting, or one from a few years back? I have some of his castings from about 6 years ago, and they don't look as "crisp" as this. I presume he did the tender as well? Look forward to seeing your progress....
HI Ernie and Mike,I can answer your questions. I too purchased a GS1 casting from Jason. The photo I took when the parts came in is dated 3/18/2015. It has a Vandy tender with it. He recommended the B'man J Class, so I purchased one. After seeing your post Ernie, I wish I had the M1 chassis. I started the project but let it "go to rest" as I have been spending way too much time on club layout. That may change soon.I did one of his AC-9's to completion and have a 2nd one and another EM1 for a 2nd AC9. I need to get my rear end in gear.Nice looking loco Ernie.Carl
Stop talking about Jason! Threads like this remind me how much I miss having him and his incredible talents around. I was lucky enough to get a GS-2 and an AC-9 from him but he was eventually supposed to also do a whaleback tender and the SP smoke lifter that I still want (no, NEED). I know he's moved on to other hobbies, but he was a great talent and is missed.
Said he was really obsessed with making steamer molds as well as the building of them, but said he also gets into other things and gets obsessed with them,
Outstanding build!! Not to pick nits - but, the GS-1 tender is from a GS-2. And - I too miss Jason's fine castingsTo round out my SP GS fleet - I need a GS1, GS7 and GS8 (These were ex Cotton Belt locomotives)Thanks, for posting your awesome work -- looking forward to their completion!!Wolf
