Old Dremel tool attachments with new Dremel models

My old model 385 Dremel is on its last leg. I use the thing a lot around the house, in the yard, etc. I have a couple of accessories for it too, like the plunger rotor and drill press attachments, which come in handy. I'm thinking about getting a replacement model 3000 but am curious if it will also fit the old attachments. Anyone know?

Did you try replacing the brushes on the old one? or is it just getting beat up.

My experience is that the drill press stand for the new model is very different from the old (I have one of each).  I've no experience with the "plunger rotor" - heck I don't even know what that is!

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Plunge Router.
Oh - I wasn't trying to be snarky, just didn't make the connection.  Still have no experience with it.

FYI, all is good. It wasn’t taken that way at all. I should have stated “perhaps the OP means plunge router”, sorry.
I too don’t know for sure if the older dremel attachments will fit the newer roto-tools.  My guess is they probably don’t by the shape of the bodies appearing to be different. However the manuals for the attachments should indicate which dremel series they fit, best to check online if you no longer have them.
If it was me and I had a lot invested in attachments that would not fit a newer replacement Dremel, I would attempt to repair the old one, or if too far gone, look for a replacement that does fit.  There may be some good bargains out there for an older model dremel NOS.

Check these out for parts.   https://www.ereplacementparts.com/dremel-parts-c-15440.html

Also checkout “You-Tube” university, there are a bunch of instructional videos showing how to fix these things.

Hope this helps some.
Good luck.

I'll try replacing the brushes. Aside from being dirty as hell (I'd been using it to cut irrigation pipe sections out to replace) it still runs okay. But it's intermittent at this point. Starting going out when i was using it to custom fit molding pieces for the kitchen.

I bet you can find the same model Dremel in "used" condition on eBay for a decent price.  That way all the accessories will still work, and you will have 2 Dremels: one for the nasty home improvement jobs, and a nicer one for hobbies.
