Finally body mounted couplers and BLMA style lowering trucks.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

While the tooling was being transferred to the new plant I asked the IM team and they said they were hoping to get them all body mounted. I was pleasantly surprised when my dozen 2 Bays arrived. It was nice to only have to weather them before dropping them into service. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Anybody pick up the 4650 3-bays that were also released? Wondering if they have body mounts as well.

That photo is so modern railroading it's sick.

In a good way.

The only think I dont like is the thick rim of the IM wheels, Targent wheels fix that issue.
I also need Atlas to release more of the BLMa 100t trucks, Tangent truck is similar but they have not released them yet.

They had samples at NTS, and those had body mounts also.

The new three bay hoppers that are new tooling are supposed to be body mounts as well

Glad to hear this, though I don't really need any more of these hoppers.  Hopefully this portends well for the 3281's appearing someday though.

My question: did they "box" us into a corner with the new coupler mounting? By that I'm asking if the coupler box is molded into the car and assumes a 1015-compatible shank, or if the coupler box is a separate subassembly that can be drop-in replaced with, say, a True Scale Coupler and its box?

Hope they do the same for the PS 4750 since there is no tangible surface to mount a coupler box on the RTR releases.   The older kits did have a optional coupler box, but I recall that it was designed for their dummy coupler....

I could really use a mounting adapter for the 4750s! I have so many but still don’t have a good solution to body mounting. I wish someone e would make an adapter so I could easily mount couplers of any kind. Kind of like what trainworx did a few years ago for the atlas coal hoppers.

I just received my IM 2 Bays, they look nice, I'm impressed. Will definitely get more. I may change out the wheel sets per sundowner's suggestion, other than that I'm happy.
