Exactly as I recall the experience.  You could differentiate where the bell was wrung from.
Great memories.
A solenoid connection from button to bell is still electronic, no?  Or is it just electric?

Just 12V AC transformer, bunch of wires, push-button, and 2 solenoids.  No electronic components anywhere. I still have one of those things hanging around somewhere, and they might still sell them as basic doorbells.

Like everything else - it is on Youtube.  :D

I've got one of those doorbells in my house too. Has two long square steel tubes that hang down from the box.

re: electric vs. electronic I thing electronic implies having solid state components like transistors and/or IC chips.

Exactly. The sound is synthesized by an electronic circuit, and emitted by a speaker or some other electronic sound transducer.
