Pewter kits

Bought a N scale pewter truck for my N scale layout.I'll assemble it after painting.What I have researched before purchase was a thick super glue can be used.Has anyone use it to put pewter kits together?Gorilla glue has a thick version I was thinking of getting.My kit came yesterday and want to start painting and assembling.

I also carefully scrape away paint from joint areas with a sharp knife first.

And while you're out, get a quart of acetone to dissolve the glue for rework, should the need arise.

I actually prefer the thin CA for many of my gluing tasks (including pewter). It all depends on the type of joint I'm making.  If it will benefit from the capillary action, I use thin stuff.  For other joints I use the standard (medium?) thickness. I almost never  use the thick stuff.

Also don't forget to get the accelerator - I  find it an indispensable pairing with the CA glue.  The BSI brand is my absolute favorite: low odor, doesn't set the glue too fast, and it doesn't not attack paint or polystyrene (since I use it on plastic too).

If you don't want to spend the money on an accelerator, just use a slightly damp paper towel. Drawing excess CA away from a joint greatly speeds up curing, and H2O works like a poor-man's accelerator.
