I love the figures especially.
That said, you wouldn't find tracks that close to a gun line in action, as they'd be too likely hit by counter-battery fire. Most people modelling military stuff place everything way too close together (large caliber artillery emplacements within feet of tanks being worked on, for example) but it's still a very well done layout.
I wish someone would make some of those trench engine in O scale...

I still think @AlkemScaleModels Bernie's Petersburg layout is probably about the most accurate military model railroad out there.

I've been thinking about trying one of these for a while. My mother actually forbid me from doing it. She said I'd get too dark.

Well, my friend Steve suggested that, instead, I do a version outside so I can use actual pyrotechnics. Terri has forbidden this plan too.
Well our new back yard needs some drainage work. We were checking it out during our home inspection and I made sure she knew that it would make a PERFECT rendition of The Somme.

I think she almost backed out of the contract right there.
