More trees in the ground.

ATTENTION: Sunday's tree boiling party has been cancelled due to someone chickening out, however, if anybody still wants to show up tomorrow or Sunday, I can still fire up the stove.

Looking great! Sorry I had to bail.
Is that Trainmaster pushing or pulling?

The TM is just sitting there, posing.

I planted some of the SuperTrees seeds out in the garden, and I think they've germinated, or maybe it's some other weed.  I'll continue to monitor their progress and post reports.

I've had the same idea. I got a bag of supertrees for free, but some were a bit beyond squashed, but plenty of seeds for experimenting.

The reason I ask, is because I think Pennsy ran the long hood forward in standard practice. Sometimes that helps me as a viewer to know to place myself in the scene.

What I don't know (not being an ops guy) is in what circumstances would Pennsy run the cab forward. I ask not to pick apart yoru beautiful scene, but for gaining knowledge.

Looking at some pics in Pennsy Power II, it looks like the "F" is always on the long hood end.

Keep in mind we're talking about the railroad that not only had the GG1 and R1 designed with center cabs, but rebuilt P5's into center cabs. After the P5 accident, the got a little neurotic about the topic.

From a minuscule seed, a SuperTree is born.  At least I think that this is what they are, as I scattered some of the seeds there.  I'll have to wait until they grow up a bit to be sure it's seafoam {Teloxys Aristata}, and not some other weeds.

Internet connection has been TARFU the past week; that's why I've been laying low.

It appears to be a common weed that I've seen throughout my days as a farmer (not the suburban kind, either.) but then again a lot of things look like that when they first get to sprouting.
If indeed it turns out to be seafoam, I'll be trying my hand at the seeds I have.

Been a long time since an update.

I ripped out a small pond on the upper level near the coal mine.  The WS horse hair reeds looked kind of crappy compared to the rest of the scenery.  I poured a new pond in with thinned wood putty, but it came out kind of uneven.  That's the last time I try to do any scenery completely sober.

My Super Tree tm seedlings croaked at about two inches tall.  I figure they need better drainage.  Will try again next year in pots filled with half sharp sand and in full sun.  They were a surprisingly red color, and  even at such a small size, looked like a miniature ST.

This a photo of a layout extension that I made for Joey U-boats back around 1995.  The size is 4' x 4' along the square sides, made on a piece of 1.5" Gatorboard.  Loosely based on some old photos of Rutland, VT.

Uboats' spawn recently bought a house, so he had room for this extension, which has been in storage  in my basement for the past 8 yrs or so.

Overhead view, showing the "almost wye" arrangement of  the plan.  Along the left  side is where the Howe Scale Co was, represented with a DPM Gripps Luggage, now the Wayne & Shuster Schtick Factory.

View of the small marble quarry the I made, which I guess will now be a limestone  quarry since  Uboats' spawn models Ohio.
