Hello everyone! We are pleased to announce, that in addition to our commission system, for those who do not wish to fork out over $100 to have a custom model kit designed, that we now have a new option to get you the kit you want. We are getting into crowdfunding! All it takes is a message to us telling us what kit you want, and in what scale, and we post it. Most N scale cars and locomotive shells are going to be $10 per unit. There will be a limited number of units for each idea, and when they're sold out, CAD development work will begin. Once CAD work is complete and approved, everyone will be shipped their model 1 week before it goes on sale to the public for full price.

If a project has less than 50% of units sold after 30 days, the idea is dead, and everyone gets their money back. If a project has more than 50% of units sold after 30 days, it will be reviewed, and if it meets the right conditions, it will proceed to development.

We currently have two ongoing Crowdfunding projects to start off with:

Chicago & North Western Crandall Cab E9BA https://outoftheboxmodels.com/collections/crowdfunding-projects/products/crowdfunding-n-scale-cnw-crandall-cab

Alco DL-108 and DL-110 (ATSF and Southern) https://outoftheboxmodels.com/collections/crowdfunding-projects/products/crowdfunding-n-scale-alco-dl-108-and-dl-110

If you have an idea, feel free to message us though our contact form, respond to this thread, or PM me!

I really like this approach- "pre-orders" of a sort, without the 2-3 year wait to get the product.  Plus the risk is spread out, rather than one person making the commitment.

Hope this proves successful for you.  One potential project that occurs to me would be interiors for ATSF 3000 series chair cars.  A bunch of us have M&R sides for these cars, ATSF remodeled the interiors into several configurations- none of which is readily available.  Or replacement interiors for the Con-cor smoothside cars we all have, which all came with coach seats (have they ever fixed that in the new run they are selling for $35?)

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

If you can point me in the direction of some references, I can add it to the site.
