I took this picture the other day on the way to a job site, showing the old Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) narrow gauge main line through Buntine (between Northam and Mullewa). This has been out of service for the last 20 years or so, but it shows the typical layout of the gravel ballasted sections of the old wheatbelt lines. The main line runs uphill here heading north to the current end of line at Perenjori (iron ore sidings south of town) and the old Co-operative Bulk Handling (CBH Group) sidings curve off to the west to the wheat bins and loading chutes. I believe the wheat bin is out of action as well, with all loading going south to McLevie (just north of Dalwallinu) or north to Perenjori.

Fun day of chasing!  Got a tip that there was a unique J Train headed our way.  Turned out to be a long wait, but definitely worth it.

First train of the day was a mixed freight led by  BNSF, CSX, NS, and UP power.  Following that, a short local led by Mr. Thumbnail down there.  Next a boring coal train, then our special guest.

Behind the single Dash 9 are two Research and Test cars (I'm told the second car is 106 years old!), followed by five fuselages.
Definitely a train I'm now going to build.

Mark, you've really become a master with the drone work. So different than the normal railfan ground videos from a fixed tripod; a really great "being there" feeling to them. Mixing-in the ground audio is genius, and very effective.

Consider me a fan!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments.

I'm still a novice though and have to give credit to GPS Stabilization.  Unlike the old RC Helicopters where hovering was a difficult skill of actively feathering throttle, these GPS drones literally fly themselves.  I just tell it to go up/down/left/right/rotate, relative to it's current position.  All those external forces like wind or rotor unbalance are automatically corrected via GPS. 

Now that the weather is warming, I'll be able to fly and practice even more. Keep watching these Thursday Proto threads and even subscribe to my channel.  Definitely more to come!
