New Briggs Models products

I have introduced in the Briggs Models (www.briggsmodels.ca)  product line some new items in the last couple months, but I am looking towards doing some more locomotive and perhaps caboose projects in the near future, rather than just detail sets. With the success of 3d printed mechanism parts, I am not tied to any particular chassis. In the past, HO cabooses have been very popular for me, and I was thinking that accurate N scale cabooses might also be a good market to target.

I have looked around for surveys pointing at interesting new products that modelers are dying for, but I haven''t found anything overly useful. I don't produce ready to run items, but only resin cast shells and details, some etched and laser cut parts, and 3d printed plastic items. Suggestions anyone? It is usually worth it for 40-50 of any given model. There is a page on my website I am using to list proposed projects, and soon I will be introducing a poll on what should be coming up next.

Thank you for reading, I look forward to hearing from you!

You got my attention with the SBD GP16 on your future list.

I know a fair amount about these.... being a CSX fan.

If I can help, let me know.

That will work for me as well.  A couple of SBD GP16's ended up going to YorkRail, and painted into G&W schemes.  They would pair well with the YorkRail CF7's I'm currently building.

I would certainly be receptive to a CP C-424 based on them in the mid to late 80's (modified filters).

Not for me, but some might be interested in a re-release of the Alco C425 replacement body for the LL C424; especially is Walthers ever re-releases this model.

I'd love to see a C430 but there's no ready fit chassis for that model. The LL C424 and Atlas C240 are too short; the Atlas C628/630 have closer bolster-to-bolster measurement but the frame and drivetrain mods would be considerable.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

I've seen it in discussions several years ago that the Atlas B23-7 chassis is within a foot of the C-430 bolster to bolster measurements.  I'm traveling now so I don't have access to my notes, but you could check that.  I have bought several chassis over the years in preparation for a C-430.

Other than that, my ALCo interests in the WNY&P and LA&L have me wanting one M-630 shell, two CP heritage RS18u low nose shells, an RS27 and I'd be interested in a C-425 and C-424m as well.

I don't own an Atlas B23-7 to know how accurate it is, but the online Diesel Shop data sheets put the B23-7 center bolster measurement at  36'-08" and the C430's at 37'-01". Of course, you'd need to do the hi-ad trucks, Reading/Conrail fans will need to fend for their own trucks.

Come to think of it, I could use hi-ad trucks for an Atlas C630, ala Reading.

Yeah. That's what I remember.  The B23-7 is 5" short.  Actual difference is 1/32 of an inch.  Close enough for me at least.  Unfortunately all my chassis are packed up in a truck in storage in Grapeland, TX until the house is ready.  The build currently has a Mid-December target for closing.

Of course, you'd need to do the hi-ad trucks, Reading/Conrail fans will need to fend for their own trucks.

Here ya go..  NEW! Alco Hi-Ad Trucks from Cutting Edge Scale Models or http://shpws.me/OkdL

Various models came from Atlas with "AAR" trucks which I think are the "type B" that the Reading C-430's came with.  I could be wrong.  Atlas #49701 was listed with "AA-R" trucks which I think is a typo.  Here's the first run page http://www.atlasrr.com/NLoco/nb237.htm  Subsequent pages list the same stock number but the details are vague, lacking or different so take it with a grain of salt.
