I acquired a few cars this week. A nice set of ATSf Ga-62 war emergency hoppers by Bluford, custom run for Prototype N Scale, and Atlas CB&Q and NP doubleshethed box cars. Love the NP paint job, even if the car doesn't have a radial roof like the prototype. It will make a good stand-in...

A question about the Atlas couplers: I have a few of the cars from an earlier run, and they have short shank couplers. This run has the long shank, which creates too much space between cars...what gives? I can never figure out why some Atlas cars come with short shanks and others, virtually identical, have the long shank...

Where are the baggage door ladders?

In the "too fiddly and fragile" category. I debated back and forth whether to add them or not, but in the end, I thought the risk of them breaking off was too high. I want this to be fun, so it's a very basic car that shouldn't cause concern about breaking bits off.

I see what you m am by the number boards but I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. There're enormous when you zoom in, ha ha.

Awesome looking models. Did you do the handrails too? They look unusually fine and close to scale.

Craig

Thanks Craig.

I think I'm my own worst critic when I build and the number boards stand out to me because I know they aren't perfect.

Yes, I built the handrails from brass bar and wire, always the most time consuming part of the build.

What caboose is that?
Hi Eric,
It's a brass Aspen model I purchased from the RS Laser Kits online store. My apologies for the photo quality...I tried uploading them from my iPhone and it didn't work out so well.
