Thank you very much, I tried looking these up too, but ran into the same problem as @Catt .

I have found that the keyword to search for these is "dropped deck" centerbeam flat car. Among the things I have dug up on the googles, here is a patent application: http://www.google.com/patents/US6920829

Was in San Francisco for 31 hours (and spent 26 hours to get there and back) for a business meeting.  Afterwards I rode a couple of PCC cars and a Milan car.  PCC 1051 was recently restored by my employer. Here's a cable car on Powell Street:

San Francisco WAS one of my favorite cities. I spent 9 great months there when I was in the Army attending Defense Languages Institute learning German.

Hmm... too bad SF is in
California...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Interesting. I heard a lot of German while riding the PCCs and walking around.  Lots of tourist groups apparently; one couple I spoke with is on a 15-day US tour of many of our western National Parks.
