Anyone here going to participate in the Bayrails 2017 ops in Newark (CA) and vicinity this week?

Is this ops session limited only to the Weekend Update thread participants?   :D

Well Pete, it's actually limited to people who got invited by the organizers (not my rules). I figured the weekend update was as good a vehicle as any to see if any asshats here were participating in this big annual Bay area event, because I'd like to meet them in person. I din't think starting a separate thread about this was warranted. Was that wrong? :?

No, nothing wrong - I was simply curious as to the reason for limiting the audience of your question.  And speaking with tongue-in-cheek, I also didn't realize that the Weekend Update thread was limited to asshats.

The HO club I'm in (Silicon Valley Lines) is hosting an ops session on Thursday night. Won't make the dinner on Saturday, as I'll be at the Sharks game.

In terms of getting an invitation, the event is connected with the OPSig, and usually you can ask for an invite from a web form on the site (http://www.bayrails.com).

Some additional work weathering and coal load for a BLI M1:

@dougnelson great! Tell me what you did and what you used!

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Lower parts of the loco was sprayed with a diluted earth paint wash. Upper loco parts were sprayed with diluted Steam Power black wash. Water scale streaks were made with a light grey Prismacolor pencil.  FCC cab roof and tender deck were darkened with an India ink/alcohol wash. Wet spots on tender deck were done with a quick brush of Future. And pulverized and graded crushed charcoal was added for coal load.
