ADM crossing oNetrak module

I am in an N scale club and have a couple ntrak modules. I have no real home layout so I have repurposed some modules I had and a shelf layout that was built before I had children. I now have most of a loop of oNetrak modules with a few setup in my "dungeon" the stoop in part of my crawl space. Here are some pics.

Nice beginning.  One of the many advantages of N scale is the ability to shoe horn layouts into . . . unique spaces.  Keep the updates coming!

Here is the area that is in downtown Charlotte, NC that is the inspiration for this module.

Started poking around on this module again. Since FreemoN has become such a force I am adopting some of their ideas. Since I made that decision I need to replace the track with C55. It is not available and the module has languished a bit. Well recently I have decided that waiting on tools or talent will keep me sitting around forever. I figure I will put some things together and make them non permanent. As skill, tooling, and materials improve I can re-visit some things later.

The top of the lift heads are complicated shapes. So I layered some styrene and will cut and file it to shape.

Now today I again was concentrating on the gear on top of the silos. Lots of distribution tubes and conveyors up there.







All of this work is based on aerial photos and telephoto shots from the ground so nothing is to scale. I simply pick and cut and eyeball it. I get it where it feels right and that is good enough for me.

That doesn't suck.    Can't wait to see more.  What were the coal gons for in the proto photo?

Loving the highway bridge too. Much more realistic than the narrow two lane no shoulder roadway that comes in the Rix highway overpass kit.

All the rolling stock in pics here are covered hoppers as far as I can tell. I am not sure wether they ship in or out from this facility. I think out, but am not totally sure.

Resurrecting this one from the dead. Found some pieces that allowed me to do this building front.



This building gets a curved roof and sits across the road from the blue single story warehouse building up against the embankment of the overpass.

It's compressed front to back due to space constraints but I believe I caught the flavor of the building well enough for me.

I guess having been hired for the fall school year has prompted me to do some real work. Pulled the ADM module out of the dungeon and stripped the code 80 off of it. In doing some research and really considering what I want to do with it I decided to go ahead and double track it just like the prototype. Plus using google earth I found an earlier pic that showed the warehouse was still an operating spur at that time. So I went ahead and planned a two foot addition. This allowed double tracking, a warehouse spur, and a crossover in the prototype position.





I have a turnout order to place that will include the c55 xovers and some c40 for the spurs. What will this doubletrack module hook to you might ask? Well I built a set of offset straight modules with a passing siding a long time ago. Drug one of those out and went to town with a belt sander. Layed out a doubletrack run on it. The second module will have double track down to the end where it will Y back together. The other side i am not 100% sure what will happen yet. I have a couple of partially completed scenic spacer modules that could be re done with double to single track at some point.
