I NEED that car!

I asked Rocket Express if he would do it but he said not enough of the 40' cars sold.

Those are ex-RI cars that were bought by both the FDDM and DCI for tires loading.  The side boards were replaced with plywood.

Hmm... maybe it was because they weren't talked about much on TRW... this is the first I have heard about the N-scale model...

The Walthers car does look close but it has two too many panels. Granted it might be as close as I can get but I'd like to have a car with the correct number of panels.

I think I have most if not all of the Walthers cars in my collection and many multiples of Milwaukee road cars. I'd just kinda like a car that contrasts with the Walthers car. I may end up using the Walthers car as the last resort.

I also have a Con Cor car that is nearly identical to the Walthers cars except is has 1 1/2 doors.

I really like wooden cars...

I want as many as has different road numbers and 10 undec's . N scale is missing 50' O/S braced box cars . We have choices of everything else . A 40 foot car has nothing to do with a 50 O/S braced car .

I'm getting confused.  The car in the OP photo is an outside braced steel car (rebuilt) vs the Walthers car that is steel braced wood.  Seems like a pretty big difference, or am I missing something?
Tom D.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

That can happen when you don't read all the posts. ;)

I agree, there is a shortage of wooden cars especially the outside braced cars. I would take as many as I can get also. Jason, thanks for the heads up on the Fort Dodge cars as well, I'll take a number of those also . I assume they were purchased prior to the CNW?

Thomas, as Jason pointed out the cars are originally wood board cars but were modified to plywood with outside bracing. They would make very distinct models and the large billboard letters would be attention getters. I assume the Ft. Dodge cars have the diamond logo?

FWIW, this is one of the top three cars I plan to 3d print.  But I couldn't give an idea of when that will happen. If there's a lot of interest and someone could get to Union IL for some measurements and underbody pictures, I could try and do something this year.

If  just the outside pressed steel braces in 3" long sections were made we could build close enough models of the various 50' single sheathed cars . Other cars as well .
